June: A Month in Rearview

Whew. Can we just pause a moment while I catch my breath? June has been a bit hectic!

It was my birthday at the start of the month, so June kicked off with a range of celebrations including dinner at Howies restaurant, a successful escape at the Breakout Games, cake and cocktails at Frankie & Benny's, Open Farm Sunday at The Store in Foveran, and a rainy picnic in the car at Formartine's.

I ran the Colour Me Rad 5k along Aberdeen beach and completed the first of my fundraising challenges for SAMH ..and then I sat a less satisfying Open University exam inside Pittodrie, that I'm pretty sure I've failed.

Then it was off to London for a few days with Eve, exploring a city that always has more to reveal. It was a brilliant four days of coffee shops and boat trips; hilltops and markets; farmyards and concerts; Peter Pan and picnics ..Most of which I'll write about eventually!

I flew home to more birthday cake with my sister, followed by a bloggers' meet over brunch at Rye and Soda. Brunch seemed to be a recurring theme throughout the month, using up a Groupon voucher with pancakes at Rosie Thistle's and catching up with friends over granola and cake at the ever-adorable Cup.

Things quietened down a little towards the end of the month. It was my brother's birthday too and we spent an evening enjoying a vegan feast - including a very impressive homemade cake! - and being entertained by my almost-two year old nephew. Other than that, the tail end of the month has given me the chance to pay some much needed attention to my laundry pile and to spend time in the pool training for that Loch Lomond swim!

It's been a hectic month, but in the very best of ways. I'm looking forward to an equally-busy July ..in particular heading off to Spain in a couple of weeks!

I hope June has been an enjoyable month for you too and that - *fingers crossed* - July makes the sun shine down on all of us.

  1. I'm so pleased that you had a month full of achievements and get-togethers. So well-deserved! I do hope you're wrong about the exam outcome - but: having to sit an exam in Pittodrie???!! Here's to July, and wishing you a great trip to Spain. Take care!
