Last weekend, i spent my Saturday afternoon at Willows Animal Sanctuary's fund-raising open day. I'd never been before and can't quite understand why because it's an absolute gem of a place!
Located between Strichen and New Pitsligo, the sanctuary is the largest of its kind in Aberdeenshire, caring for (and rehoming, where appropriate) a huge variety of animals including horses, ponies, cats, dogs, lizards, tarantulas, bunnies, goats and geese! They also run an Animal-Assisted Therapy programme for people with severe mental health difficulties which, as you can probably imagine, is a definite tick in the right box for me.
It rained all day Saturday, which was a shame, but we still had a brilliant time! Here are some photos from the day:
If you're in the area, i'd definitely recommend looking them up. My photos don't really do justice to the special-ness of the place.
They're open 11am-5pm every Saturday & Sunday from April-October and can be found at Lambhill, New Pitsligo (Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire, AB43 6NY). Pay them a visit!
