10 Songs - The October Edition

I was away in Prestwick last weekend (more on that to follow) and feel a bit like I've been chasing my tail all week trying to catch up. Given it's now November, this post is a wee bit late.

Nevertheless, here are ten tracks I was loving throughout October..
..all of which can be found right here, in handy little Youtube form.

It was another good month for music, in my humble opinion.  Ellie Goulding and Bat For Lashes have featured widely in my listening with their new albums ('Halcyon' and 'The Haunted Man', respectively), as have Dog Is Dead and Jake Bugg with their long-awaited debuts. Benjamin Francis Leftwich got a lot of listening time after seeing him play in Aberdeen - well-timed as he sent the beautiful 'In the Open' into the airwaves this month. The Bastille track, 'Flaws', has me completely smitten; and the Lumineers (whose track you might recognise from a current TV commercial) have really captured my attention with 'Ho Hey' and kept it with the rest of their album. So much loveliness.

In other music news, I was absolutely delighted to see that one of my top two - Alt-J - won the Mercury Prize for Album of the Year last night. Well done boys - very much deserved!

So there we go. A very late update on my musical pickings.

What tracks/artists should I be listening to over the next month?
