Photo Field Trips: Aviemore

When I put together my to-do list for 2014, I was conscious of filling it with things that fill me with joy. There are already enough things we have to do in life - it's nice to remind yourself, sometimes, to do the things that make your heart sing.

For me, photography is one of those things.

I'm not sure what it is exactly - perhaps it's something to do with the focus that it brings; the way it grounds you in the moment and makes you really stop and look at the world - but spending time taking photos always leaves me a little more refreshed and a whole lot more in awe of all the beauty God created in the world.

I decided that this year I would make a deliberate effort to get out at least once a month with the sole aim of taking photos with a 'real' camera, rather than a basic phone one. This month's photos come from Aviemore, where I was supposed to be attending a conference this weekend, but mostly just spent it hiding from everyone.

Hiding.. and admiring this.

Even in the fog and wind and rain, Scotland is a beautiful part of the world. And I so needed it.

  1. Your photos are so very beautiful, Laura. Thank you for that. The Cairngorms is a beautiful place. I love the smell of the forest there - reminds me of Oregon!
